It is merely a “name” referring to their conceptual designs inspired by origami. Airo seems to be the most functional/useful of the set. I’d certainly be interested in it should they be able to pack a decent amount of power into it for the price ($1000-$1500 announced) which Asus often does on quite a few of their series.

I like the 3rd one looks like cool.

um… don’t laptops already “fold?” I know my MacBook Pro seems to fold right in half. That’s how I “close” it. I wonder if that’s going to be Asus next design study… the “closing” laptop… it’s efficient… it’s protective… WOW! What an idea. very 2009.

That looks awesome. I have a feeling it might not last too long though if you constantly open and close it.

not very practical and might get broken easily at the connection point .

  12. LaHellya says on: 11 April 2010 at 5:53 am

huh? i’d be afraid i’d break the damn thing every time i opened…i mean unfolded…it.

Asus should be congratulated for something different & interesting. It’s about time other computer manufacturers besides Apple put some effort & originality into their designs.

i think you should worry more about anger management classes than the durability of your laptops

for the airo, what if you broke the keyboard by be mad about how sluggish the os might be when scanning for viruses. i pound my laptop when that happens, because it the scans take up so much computer recourses

  19. strongaudivibe says on: 11 April 2010 at 10:22 am

It’s going to be really hard to keep this laptop in good condition

  20. craighughes16 says on: 11 April 2010 at 10:59 am

More complex = more problems. A normal hinge will do fine thanks.

the more moving parts in a portable device, the more broken moving parts.

  22. dazedck1 says on: 11 April 2010 at 11:57 am

    stupid

  23. nitturo says on: 11 April 2010 at 12:14 pm

if it can be truly minimal, can be very interesting, specially when considering it comes with Linux as OEM – but if starts to have too fancy styling (styling is not the same as design), i start to doubt on how interesting would it be -

    Intresting.
