Windows XP users – or those with even older versions of Windows – who have the operating system installed on a notebook might have noticed that the battery meter icon in the system tray is not really the best way of displaying the current battery level. Hoovering over it would display the information needed but that always involved moving the mouse into that area to find out about the current battery status of the notebook. Some hardware developers like IBM, well when they developed notebooks at least, included their own software programs for the matter which where usually bulky and resource hungry.

A better notebook battery monitor is Power Meter Plus. The software is completely free for private use. It can be installed or used as a portable application and runs fine on all Windows operating systems prior to Windows Vista. So every Microsoft operating system that has been released after Windows 3.11 and before Windows Vista should be able to run this little application without problems.

Power Meter Plus will display a battery monitor in the left and / or right corner of the computer screen. That power meter appears gradually over time as the power levels drop and will be more prominent the less it gets. The meter will automatically move to the left or right side of the screen depending on the position of the computer mouse.

A few settings are provided that can be used to configure the notebook battery monitor. The critical battery level and the level when it is seen as full can be defined. It is furthermore possible to change the drain and charging colors and to display messages when the critical battery level is reached or when the power source is switched.

B2C-battery.com.au provides Replacement notebook battery for most major brands, including Dell laptop battery, Toshiba laptop battery , Compaq laptop battery , Fujitsu, Sony, Apple, HP, IBM , Gateway and Lenovo.

If one is traveling long distance in a car, or going on a business trip or in the wilderness and needs emergency power for notebook, this Universal notebook Car Charger will come handy. Now we can have the excellent universal charger for our notebooks on HooToo.com. We can take our notebooks to outdoors and keep on using them without bothering that the charge will run out. The product bundles in a car adapter, and a wide selection of tips for different notebook models. Since I’m often on the go, I took it up on the offer of a review unit.

First of all, I’m worry about any product that includes adapter tips. It can be hard to find the right tip for your device, quality is often questionable, and tips are easy to lose. Initially it seemed HooToo was an exception. I snapped up adapter tip L107 (as indicated by the manual for Asus notebooks), popped it in to my computer, and it immediately appeared to start charging. Unfortunately, some time later my computer shut off unexpectedly. I didn’t have time then to investigate, but in attempting to charge my Asus again later in the day with the HooToo universal charger, the same thing happened. I plugged in my regular charger and discovered I’d dropped down to 1% power. There was no low-battery alert. Nothing except sudden shut-down.

Putting aside my experience for a moment, HooToo does include a lot in its adapter package. The Universal notebook Charger comes with tips for notebooks made by ASUS, Averatec, Compaq, Dell, Fujitsu, Gateway, HP, IBM, NEC, Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba and Winbook . HooToo even includes a handy tip clip for keeping an extra tip close at hand – in case you want to switch up your machine.

Instructions:

1. Please make sure the output voltage your device uses is within 16V to 20V. You can find the output voltage on your notebook or the original ac adaptor that comes with your device.
2. Find the correct connector by trying to plug it in the device. We recommend plugging the connector in the device before it is plugged into the AC Adapter PA-6.
3. Select the correct voltage (determined by your notebook) just by simply moving the voltage switch button with your finger.
4. Insert DC input plug into the DC mains supply of DC 11V to 16V (car cigarette adapter).

According to media reports, AMD on Wednesday released a new mobile processor. AMD to Asus EEE PC battery try to reduce the price of notebook computers with Intel at the same time reducing power consumption and performance in the gap.

AMD announced new processors, including Phenom II of its new product line in the first 3 core and 4 core processors. AMD officials said that processors will reduce the power consumption while increasing application performance. Most mainstream notebook computers are configured to dual-core processor. Increase in core can lower prices for users to add more features.

AMD vice president of marketing, said Leslie Sobon, we can reach 799 U.S. dollars in the 3 core and 4 core processor price point. Have from 130 to 150 products around the new chip is being designed. This AMD is a record.

AMD introduced three kinds of four nuclear and two 3-core Phenom II processor running at speeds between 1.6Ghz to 2.3GHz, the power consumption of 25 watts to 45 watts. These chips will apply later this month to include Dell, HP and Lenovo notebook manufacturers, including computers.

AMD has not released the ultra-thin notebook computers low voltage Athlon II Neo and Turion II Neo processor. These processors run at 1.3GHz to 1.7GHz. These processors are single core and dual-core, power consumption of 12 watts to 15 watts.

AMD released the new chip is to improve its weak market position and win market share from Intel. According to market research firm IDC, said, AMD in the first quarter of 2010, the notebook computer market share has grown from 15% in the same period in 2009, fell to 12.1%. Intel’s first quarter market share of notebook computer chips from the same period last year, 84.3% to 87.8%.

Last month, AMD CEO Dirk Meyer acknowledged, AMD is not in the notebook PC market to show their strength. But, he added, AMD chips are on their own architectural improvements may increase the machine’s battery life and performance.

Intel last year to make faster and more energy-efficient chip production process of transition to the new, competitive advantage gained. Intel launched in January this year, a new Core Dell Inspiron 9300 battery i3, i5, and i7 dual-core notebook processors. Intel will soon release for the new ultra-thin notebook processor.

AMD’s Sobon said, AMD’s 3 core and 4 core processor offers buyers more choices. Antivirus and other computer tasks can be handed over to the third core, so that another separate cores for other applications.

Including HP and Dell, PC makers said that Intel’s chips have a longer battery life and better performance. The new chips, AMD offers better graphics performance and more cost-effective cost-effective. At the same time, these officials say PC makers, AMD and Intel in narrowing the gap has been a major step.

HP business notebook marketing manager Joanne Bugos said that AMD chips configured laptop prices generally than the Intel-based notebook computers are cheap about 15% to 20%.

Dell’s senior product manager for Lane McCullough said, AMD has begun to address its processor and graphics products, power and performance problems and is relying on its own strength to catch up Intel. PC makers like to see AMD’s future.

Comparison of AMD processors do not want Lenovo and Intel processors configured laptop battery life. Lenovo spokesman said in an e-mail, there are many different configuration variables in the battery life will play a major role. So, what kind of processor, Lenovo can not comment on the edge.

Otellini reason is, ARM technology patents alone, it is difficult to earn a lot of money, compared to Intel, is personally designed, manufactured and promote their platforms.

He was also the external display the name of Moorestown Atom platform. It is a dynamic structure of Ling’s latest processors, known as low power consumption, advanced technology, Fujitsu Lifebook s6000 Battery specifically for smart phones, tablet PCs and other handheld devices product design.

This is a product of Intel again to the challenge launched by British rival ARM Information. The latter date, remains the world’s largest supplier of mobile phone processor architecture.

ARM not fight back it. However, before the “First Financial Daily” repeatedly interviewed the company’s global CEO Daudet @ Brown, whenever we talk about Intel’s challenge, he chuckled that it is always looking for the wrong competitors. Because, ARM does not manufacture processors, but only authorized, Intel’s rival is a Freescale ARM partners, Qualcomm, Samsung and so on.

However, every time Germany @ Brown and spare those who laugh at ARM Intel. They say it’s processor is more suitable for PC or laptop, cost, power consumption and high, like smart phones and other mobile Internet terminal to catch up with ARM, there are many difficulties. Moreover, they also stressed that from time to time, the company is rapidly developing notebook market, it seems to imply that Intel not too.

A few days ago, ARM or even announced to enter the global server processor market news. Giant Intel apparently does not want the day an easy one.

Their commercial propaganda war, has not yet high score. Because, in addition to Intel’s product line by bridging the rendering of the mobile Internet to its own advantage, ARM products by Lenovo Group’s Mobile Internet outside the limelight, they are not really big step on each other sites.

Has been at war before they do. Otellini is not ironic, then ARM White said. As of now, Intel has the processor power approximation ARM. Because of its technical architecture to adapt to a more extensive software applications, ARM is facing an unprecedented challenge.

Headache for Intel is, ARM camp’s efforts to embrace open source linux, is it more downstream partners, ARM like a hen, the body is the large number of processors, the following program business. Even proud of apples, also its extremely popular in the iPad stuffed inside the ARM architecture. HP pavilion dv6000 Battery Of course, it is designed for Samsung authorized access to ARM processor program.

Moreover, because Intel’s strategy of change in the operating area, that is linux with Nokia to expand the market’s move has attracted Microsoft’s jealousy. The latter party is said to immediately open up the market for ARM. This will undoubtedly speed up the ARM products, the pace of expansion of notebook form.

However, the global processor camp, they are not the only two to compete. Intel, the same technology camp in AMD, is moving toward new products through the Internet extension of the expected advantages for graphics handheld audio-video network terminal in the market come out on top; Taiwan, VIA and the other recent high profile last year, though no longer, but still quite cottage market reputation. That war of words with Intel for years NVIDIA, the world is rapidly snatch MID market.

ARM camp huge natural alone. Almost all of the mobile phone processor companies such as Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, Freescale, MediaTek, Spreadtrum, are its partners. Number size, and smart phone devices, carriers for many years the business model, is expected to bring good luck to them. Lenovo announced a few days before the new strategy can be described as the biggest victory of the camp.

However, the mobile Internet is still a chaotic market. In addition to selling similar model of cooperation has been outside, in the form of products, industry standards are far from uniform. The Internet, intelligent of this, smart phone, MID, e-books and the like, is still at a loss to the public. This will certainly also make processors continue to fall into a HP pavilion ze1000 Battery infighting among enterprises.
