Do NOT buy a computer/laptop from Dell! I bought my Inspiron 1720 laptop less than a year and a half ago. Was giving me some errors trying to install some software and was told to reinstall Windows. It won’t. It just hangs and hangs. Spent a couple days at Best Buy with the Geek Squad trying to figure it out and they said it’s a hardware issue and has to go back to Dell. Well, it’s off warranty – of course – and when I call Dell I’m told it’s $49.99 JUST TO TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT IT! I’m going to do that as Best Buy’s refunding me what they charged me but I’m not hoping for much. Odds are it has to go back to them which will cost me god knows fucking what. I wish I’d never bought this fucking piece of shit from them. Dell = HELL!

yes, that’s because inspiron 1440 is nothing compare to 1720 in terms of power and specs.
I could have fixed it for you, next time when you have a problem with 1720 make sure you send me a message.
Yeah after I paid about $200 to extend my warranty :-/
I have the same problem on my 1721, did the dell people tell you how to fix it?
I have an Inspiron 1440 and it never heats up. I guess this was a problem with older models.

Isn’t that the gaming ones they have? They look pretty slick but they’re VERY pricey.
I actually got my laptop fixed. I was able to extend my warranty and they walked me through what we had to do to get it working again. But still – pissed that it stopped working just days after the warranty runs out. Kinda makes you wonder if it has a built in “timebomb”, eh? Also wish I hadn’t bought such a heavy notebook. It’s nice for home but sucks for travel. I’m getting a netbook for that.

My first laptop was a toshiba which was okay..then later it turned into a to-shita. Second was IBM which was pretty kick ass, then it fell to pieces. Third is my Dell, which is okay, but now I use it more as a portable heater since it heats up like crazy. But yeah don’t buy dell…they sux…and damn those customer service reps…Mary Sue Anne and her thick Indian accent…damn you…
And yes – Pan’s completely deaf. But it sure doesn’t slow him down – nor does it in any ferret.
No, not necessarily the solid white ones. Deafness is more common in ferrets like Pan with the “Panda” or “Blaze” colouration. 75% of them are deaf. It’s related the Waardenburg Syndrome. Look closely and you’ll see Pan isn’t white. His head is but his legs and tail have black in it. When I first got him a year or so ago he was MUCH darker there.

I have the same computer, and like I had a problem with it AFTER they fixed a spill, which short circuited it. It kept resterting AFTER I got it back and I did a OS restore and that didn’t help and I was constantly, literally, screaming at them to get a refund, but apparently you can only return it before 21 days of delivery. Yeah so i got a replacement system atleast, but I would have liked a new one rather than a refurbrised one. Anyway, now I’m going with HP
My friend’s house BURNED DOWN because of a Dell Laptop that was plugged into the charger. Only after this happened we found out that they had recalled these. BS!!!! They didn’t get anything telling them about it and now they have lost everything. I repeat, GO TO HELL DELL!!!

I agree completely, I never use U.S. computers. My first laptop was a compaq presario and it gave me hell, It set the world record for computer memory reboots.
My latest laptop is a Toshiba Tecra hasn’t had major problems with it for 2 years and only recently started giving me blue screen errors. It shouldn’t be very difficult to fix at the service centre when I go to visit my parents.
Dell is a pretty good computer actually. But you should always extend a warranty on any computer. My warranty on my computer is 5 years and it’s good thing I did because I’ve had to send it to the US at least 5 times now for a while new harddrive/hardware/whatever.
Maybe you have Vista? Vista kind of destroys any computer it touches or comes in range with.

Don’t it suck so much when good money goes down the gurgler. I got a flat tyre just 6 weeks ago and had to buy a new one and just last got a flat tyre again and it was the new one, waste of $130. But entirely my fault.
